ENJOY A QUIET PADDLE ON AN AREA LAKE

INLAND PADDLING

Explore an area lake by kayak, canoe, or paddleboard.

With the St. Croix Riverway being so amazing, we’re used to celebrating all things River, but Polk County has over 400 lakes, too! For anyone looking for an easy, no-current paddle or who wants to have the flexibility of being done whenever you please, a lake is a beautiful place to kayak, canoe, or stand up paddleboard. Here are a few of our favorites:

Lotus Lake:

Named for all the American Lotus on the water (you might call them lily pads), there’s something a little magical about drifting through a sea of flowers.

Sand Lake:

A bonus of this lake is the wonderful grassy area alongside it, perfect for picnics!

Lake O’ the Dalles

Located within Interstate Park, this is a tranquil choice: only nonmotorized craft are allowed on this lake.
