If you’re the curious type of traveler, someone who always wants to know a little more than the obvious, we’ve got an itinerary for you!
Start by learning more about why Luck WI was once known as the “Yo Yo Capital of the World” at the Luck Library and Museum.
Next, visit the “castle in the country” just north of St. Croix Falls on Hwy 87. You’ll be able to spot Chateau St. Croix Winery from the road as it’s regal castle looms large among the pastoral views of vineyards and farmland.
Don’t forget to visit the oldest state park in WI, right in Polk County! Interstate is Wisconsin’s oldest state park, established in 1900. Located along the picturesque St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, the park provides scenic views of the river and the steep-sided gorge known as the Dalles of the St. Croix. The Ice Age Interpretive Center features a film, photographs, murals and information about Wisconsin’s glacial history. Interstate Park has miles of trails to enjoy!
Did you know that WI has a 1,000 mile footpath that starts/ends right in Polk County? The western terminus of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail an be found inside of Interstate State Park on the Pothole trail. You can walk all the way from St. Croix Falls to the northern county line on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail or follow it as it stretches its way all across the state! Be sure to visit the trail marker and snap a pic at the selfie station.
