Family Fun in Polk County

GOOD OLE FASHIONED FAMILY FUN!

Honestly, we could write for days on all the family fun activities in Polk County! That being said, we’ve come up with a list to get you started.

Fawn Doe Rosa: Stroll through this wooded education park where you can pet deer, feed the goats, and even ride a pony. You even have the chance to see a grizzly bear, mountain lion, and elk.

Go Mini Golfing!  The recently remodeled Mt. Croix Kart and Putt in St. Croix Falls offers mini golf, a rock wall, and an arcade.

Take a Train ride at the Osceola & St. Croix Valley Railway.

Take a hike! Try one of these six trails to start.

Play pickleball! This fastest growing, family fun sport is taking hold in Polk Co0unty. We have outdoor courts in Dresser, Frederic, and a new indoor pickleball court in St. Croix Falls!

Take a family selfie! The Travel Wisconsin sponsored selfie station in Polk County is located on the Pothole Trail inside WI Interstate Park.

Hunt for wildflowers! Catch them while you can! These early and late spring wild blooming plants don’t last long. These wild growing woodland plants take advantage of the sun before the deciduous trees and shrubs leaf out and cast their cool, dark shade onto the forest floor. Look for Trillium, Rue Anemone, and Wild Columbine to name a few. Hit the trails and start hunting!

Play big chess at 123 S Washington! Located behind the vacation rental building (that used to house the old jail), you’ll find a hidden patio along the river, and an area to play life-size chess. Please be mindful of the building guests if you choose to visit.

Take a bike ride. Ride our area gravel trails, or try the family friendly flow trail at the Woolly Mountain Bike Trails in St. Croix Falls.

Hit the beach! Spring is funny in the upper midwest. You might get snow in April, but you also might get a blistering hot day. If you want to get your feet wet, try the beaches at Lake O’ the Dalles, Balsam Lake, Coon Lake, or Dwight Beach on Round Lake.

Take a paddle! Spring is a great time to get out on the water and try a river paddle or inland kayak.

Late spring brings the return of the Osceola Braves! It’s always a family fun time to watch a game from the stands. Or, you might be inspired to hit the batting cages and try out your power-hitting skills!

Are you a detective at heart? Or looking for an indoor activity on a rainy day? Try the Frost Escape Room in St. Croix Falls!

Are you looking for a stroller-friendly trail for your family? Try the Brookside Trails at Schillberg Park.  The paved ADA friendly trail in Osceola starts at an old campground, winds through the woods, and crosses the railroad tracks. You’re in town the whole time, but you’d never know it with nature’s beauty surrounding you.

Are you a family of pickleball players, or maybe enjoy some disc golf? You can find outdoor pickleball courts in Frederic, WI, and 4 indoor courts at St. Croix Pickleball and Recreational Sports Facility.

If you’re a fan of disc golf, the Reigel Mammoth Disc Golf course in St. Croix Falls is a beautiful course built near Jerusalum Pond.
